Classification of  Medical Facilities

Medical facilities are generally classified as Level I through IV. While Level IV hospitals are permanent structures, Levels I through III can be transportable.

Based on your needs, SOS-Medequip can provide you with the following:

Level I - A unit medical station is typically staffed with a single doctor and several medical assistants. It is used for everyday medical requirements, triage, and to stabilize patients in preparation for transfer to a higher-level hospital. This medical station has no holding or operating capabilities.

Level II - A medical facility that includes a limited holding area for patients, and room for doctors to sort and treat life-threatening cases. It provides operating capability for emergencies only.

Level III - A full-service field hospital where patients can be held and treated for up to several days. This hospital can include several operating theatres and enough equipment to support various medical wards, resuscitation, x-ray, medical laboratories, and more. It is defined by its operating capability, not its size. It can consist of several beds.
